Bleak towns: does place reputation matter?

In my role at EDReC, I’m involved in hosting this event at Greenwich on 17th September, which features Owen Hatherley, architecture critic for the Guardian newspaper, in conversation with Sam Jordison, author of ‘Crap Towns’.  The event will be chaired by Andrew Stevens.

The event is free, but places are strictly limited – click here to book your place.

  1. I think ‘Crap Towns’ will be next on my reading list. My favourite ‘crap town’ is Newton Abbot, Devon – a soulless, hopeless, depressing urban void.

    • I know Newton Abbot. It’s main regional value seems to be that it has a tesco. I think it suffers from being in a no-mans land between the lovely coast and the moors….
